Generally speaking, the best months to visit the Azores Islands are May, June, September and October, as they combine milder temperatures and fewer tourists crowds. That said, for best chances of sunny days, you’ll want to come in July or August and reversely, if you’re looking for a more budget-friendly trip and don’t mind the occasional rain showers, January-March would be a good bet.
Summer months bring more tourists to Azores, particularly July and August. Flights, hotels, car rentals, and even restaurants will be more costly, so make sure to book ahead.
Climate in the islands is pretty mild, with temperatures rarely going down 10C in winter months and above 30C in summer. Humidity is quite high though, giving it a sub-tropical feeling all.year round. Weather in Azores is known to be highly volatile, being common to witness the four seasons… in a single day!
Consumer prices are generically aligned with prices in mainland Portugal. That said, every island in the archipelago is different and the most remote ones tend to have higher prices on hotels, groceries, and restaurants.
